“The Last Jedi,” the eighth installment in the “Star Wars” saga, premiered this weekend with the second-biggest opening ever in North America. It brought in an estimated $220 million, according to Disney. The Last Jedi is the next installment after the 2015 release of The Force Awakens. The Last Jedi follows the rebels on their conquest to fight the First Order. In the last scene of the Force Awakens it shows Rey, the main female character, handing the Jedi master Luke Skywalker a lightsaber. With continuing the scene in The Last Jedi, Rey wants to learn the way of the Jedi. Luke Skywalker is upset and reluctant to train anymore Jedi. Master Luke wants the Jedi to die because it is hard to resist the dark side. The Last Jedi is a story about hope and perseverance. The story of the Last Jedi feels long and played out. Half of the movie is Rey trying to control her use of the force. The scenes switch between the rebels running away from the first order and the conflict of power between the rebel leaders. The main conflict is that the rebels are trying to outrun the First Order but they cannot. This problem I feel is a weak point in the movie. There is so much potential in the movie but it seems like Lucas Films is trying to stretch the series to make more movies. The last Jedi is a downgrade from the Force Awakens. I would rate this album a solid 7/10 for a big fan of the Star Wars series this would be a good movie but to the average fan, it packs less of a punch.
