Super Bowl LII Recap

Super+Bowl+LII+Recap

The biggest game of the world was played in the U.S. Bank Stadium located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Super Bowl was first introduced on January 15,  1967. This was the 52nd Super Bowl that was played on February 3, 2018, which included the New England Patriots against the Philadelphia Eagles. The last time these two teams competed against each other on the biggest stage was Super Bowl 39 on February 5, 2005. The Patriots came out on top, which was the beginning of the Patriots dynasty with Bill Belichick and Tom Brady. The New England Patriots are looking to tie the most Super Bowl wins with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Both Tom Brady and Bill Belichick are also trying to secure their sixth Super Bowl ring as a dynamic coach and quarterback duo. The Philadelphia Eagles are looking to secure their first Super Bowl win in franchise history, only visiting the Super Bowl 3 times. This season being a ride of ups and downs with injuries all season. Entering the tournament as the “underdogs,” they showed adversity through the whole 2017-2018 season. Both teams are 13-3, but there can only be one victor. One will be Super Bowl champs, the other will have to wait until next season to have a shot at the title. Who you got?

This has been one of the craziest Super Bowls in franchise history, both teams battled till the end. The first half consisted of a dominant Eagles defense against a consistent Patriots offense. The Eagles defense shut down the dominant tight end Rob Gronkowski and forcing incompletions. Nick Foles and his offense carried the Eagles to a good first half. Demonstrating the greatest Super Bowl trick play on 4th down with seconds before the first half ended. The second half was a straight dog fight that went back and forth for both teams. Tom Brady showing why he is the G.O.A.T (Greatest of All-Time), coming out strong in the second half, scoring on the first Patriots offensive drive and Rob Gronkowski finally coming out to play.

This kept the Eagles defense and fans on their heels. Nick Foles also came out strong keeping the playing field even and competed with Tom Brady. The New England Patriots for the first time in the game, lead in the late fourth quarter. This shocked the world with Eagles fans set in panic and New England fans rejoicing. The game wasn’t over yet, the Eagles then took the lead with a clutch touchdown play by Zach Ertz. This put the Eagles back in the lead in the late fourth quarter. The next Patriot drive, Tom Brady was stripped by Brandon Grammy which lead to an Eagles first down. This Eagles drive was finished by a 46 yard field goal and the New England Patriots had one last shot to take the lead. This was then ended by a blocked hail Mary pass in the endzone. The Philadelphia Eagles finally won their first Super Bowl in 85 years. Nick Foles won the Super Bowl Most Valuable Player award and the city of Philadelphia rejoiced. I interviewed peoples opinions about the game, most rooted for the New England Patriots. Only a few people rooting for the Philadelphia Eagles, many shocked with the outcome of the game. Myself a huge Eagles fan from birth, was extremely happy with the outcome of the game. Finally seeing my favorite NFL team winning the Super Bowl for the first time. Storm Passi also a Philadelphia Eagles fan shared, “They doubted us ever since Carson Wentz went down, but look at us now…Super Bowl Champs Baby!” In the end, it was a great matchup between both teams. The Philadelphia Eagles just proved they were the better team and were crowned the Super Bowl 52 Champions. We now just have to wait until the next season to see who will be crowned the 2018-2019 Super Bowl 53 champion.
