Track Team Takes its First Strides
March 1, 2018
After placing 7th in the 2017 State Track Tournament at Keaau High School, the Saint Louis track team looks to speed past opponents this year. The team has only lost a few members to graduation, and look towards several seniors and a large amount of underclassman to be the stars of the team.
Mitchell Quinn, a 4-year member of the varsity team, looks to be one of the main leaders. “I’m running in the 100m, 200m, and 4×100, and I feel like I can place at least third in all three at states. In the triple jump I think I am going to be first.” Quinn also believes senior speedster Jonah Panoke will be among those participating in the 4×100, and with sophomore Roman Wilson, they can easily take the crown. Wilson placed 2nd last year in the 100m and is confident that he will take the first place spot this year.
Expect to see 5-star football player Faatui Tuitele, on the field side of the team participating in the throws. His strength could help the team win several titles. There will also be a handful of other football players on the team, looking to participate and help build the team to be the powerhouse program it should be.
