Saint Louis vs Kamehameha

The Saint Louis Crusaders varsity football team extended their winning streak to 23 recently when they defeated the Kamehameha Warriors with a score of 42-7. The Crusaders came out strong in the second half after a sluggish first half to dominate the No.6 ranked Warriors. Junior quarterback Jayden deLaura completed 15 of 18 for 275 passing yards and three touchdowns. Other quarterbacks Connor Apo and Chandan Sappal also saw action. The Crusaders scored three touchdowns in the first five minutes of the second half to pull away from Kamehameha. Although the offense did their part, what stood out the most was the relentless effort of the defense. The Crusaders defense came close to not allowing a single point on the board for Kamehameha. Nine of Kamehameha’s 11 offensive drives ended in punts with another one ending in a fumble. The only score Kamehameha had resulted in a muffed punt that gave Kamehameha field position on the opposing 4-yard line. Kamehameha’s offense was limited to 172 total yards of offense with just 15 first downs, while Saint Louis had 462 yards and 23 first downs. Wide receiver Roman Wilson scored two touchdowns while slotback Koali Nishigaya also scored a touchdown. The Saint Louis Crusaders will have a week off then play the winner of Kamehameha vs. Punahou for the ILH Championship the following week.
