The Heisman Trophy is awarded annually to a special player in NCAA football. Winners contain great abilities combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work. They are outstanding athletes with the top performance out of all college athletes. Saint Louis Alumni Tua Tagovailoa, who is currently at Alabama, was one of the final three candidates of the 2018 Heisman Trophy award. The other two candidates was quarterback Kyler Murray out of Oklahoma, and quarterback Dwayne Haskins out of Ohio State. Tua Tagovailoa graduated from Saint Louis High School in 2017. He is one of the many great athletes that came out of Saint Louis. He follows in the footsteps of Marcus Mariota. As quarterback, Tua led the football team to a state title his senior year in 2016. He then went on to Alabama where he is very successful. In his 2017 rookie season, he went into the College Football National Championship in the second half to lead them to a victory in overtime. He is now breaking records as the starting quarterback in this 2018 season. The Heisman Trophy ceremony took place in New York City on Saturday, December 8. It was a long wait until the finalist was announced. The winner of the 2018 Heisman was, Kyler Murray from Oklahoma University. Tua ended up coming in second overall. Although, it is not the end for Tua. Alabama will play Oklahoma on December 29th for the College Football National Semi-championship.
