Saint Louis School’s homecoming is more than just a week of competition; it showcases school pride, where brotherhood is forged and memories are made.
For alumni like Bryce Takemoto (Class of 17’), the Freshman class counselor, those intense practices and high-energy cheers left a lasting impact, creating a bond that endures long after graduation. “Today, the tradition thrives with students taking charge,” Student Activities Co-Coordinator Tasha Castro highlights, “blending fierce rivalry with Marianist values to build unity.” Homecoming has become more than just a competition; it’s a celebration of what it means to be a Crusader.
Saint Louis School’s homecoming has long been the heart of school spirit. What started as a simple tradition is now a spirited week of intense competition and camaraderie. Alumni recall how classes clashed with cheers, banners, and dances. While some aspects have evolved, like “the sense of unity within the divisions,” as the class of 2017 alumni Bryce Takemoto puts it. Over the years, homecoming has grown into one of the school’s most anticipated events, uniting students as Crusaders.
Each class dives into preparations by forming committees to handle banners, dances, and cheers, with the Crusader Council guiding efforts. “Homecoming offers students various leadership opportunities,” says Ms. Castro, allowing them to work together on a shared mission. From pep rallies to game-day performances, the planning strengthens school bonds, teaching students teamwork and school pride.
In the final days, the campus buzzes with excitement. Christian Salehi, a senior, shares, “At first, it was hard to bring the energy, but as the competition drew closer, our class got more focused.” From perfecting cheer verses to preparing banners, homecoming becomes more than just a football game, as students come together to make lasting memories and represent their Crusader spirit.
The results of this year’s 2024 Saint Louis homecoming were very interesting, as the middle school took their back-to-back win from 2023 to this year with the freshman class coming in at second and the senior class coming in at third overall. It was an exciting week and there is much to look forward to in the coming years.
