Psyched Out

Connor Apo, Writer

After watching Jamie OʻBrienʻs youtube channel, I have become a huge fan and supporter of his videos. Seeing his passion and excitement for his viewers, itʻs hard to see different versions of him with the cameras on or off. As you watch his videos, itʻs hard to believe that what he does is just an act for his viewers. The passion and drive that he has for pushing his limits and living everyday to the fullest.

Watching his surfing abilities on his channel is unbelievable. I didnʻt even think that some of these moves were even possible. The impact that he has on our communities is like no other. Although he may not be Native Hawaiian and culturally strong with the people, he understands the respect that we have here in the islands. Our mutual respect here is like no other place. To see the way that he respects the ocean and the land makes me think that it doesnʻt even matter if he is Hawaiian or not. He deserves to represent Hawaiʻi in the ocean.

The biggest review that I could give on his channel is the craziness and bravery that he has. All of the videos that you see on Jamie OʻBrienʻs page is of him either surfing the craziest waves in the world or nearly killing himself riding crazy high sewer drains. The adrenaline rush that he craves everyday is inspirational to me and makes me want to take on my fears and live my life to the fullest. I wish that I could be able to do the things that he could. In all honesty, Iʻm just too scared. He mastered how to change his fears into fun. This is what I aspire to and Iʻm sure you will too.
