Black Friday being one of the biggest shopping events during the holiday seasons in the US, has millions of shoppers going on a craze every year. However with the increase in online shoppers, watching the success of Amazon and other online stores can make people think about what is in the future for physical retail stores.

Of course there are still people that go to places such as walmart in five in the morning just so they can get a 23- inch TV on a 50% discount. But much of the holiday shopping also takes place online. People find it much more easier to shop when the want, wherever they want, and go directly to the type of products they are looking for just by typing a few key words. With the internet and mobile devices, shopping for that same 23-inch TV can be done while you are simply just lying in bed. It has gotten much more easier, faster, and efficient to buy products than ever before. There is no need to drive to a physical store and bring home heaps of brand new products and other luggage when you can just have a logistics company such as UPS or FedEx to deliver Amazon packages right to your home. Plus, Amazon’s Black Friday deals lasts for a whole week and there are search engines and algorithms that can show consumers products that they may want to buy in a comfortable and efficient manner. There is no more pushing random strangers to get the best deal in a large department store that can be difficult to navigate through.

Does the rise of online shopping signal the inevitable death of the physical retail store? Perhaps so, as many other things in history end up becoming obsolete as technology improves. As more and more department stores close down at a faster rate than ever seen before, it seems that times are changing to a much more better and advanced world.
