A serial bomber terrorized Austin Texas for about 19 days with the first attack taking place March 2nd; the mysterious bomb killed two people and wounded others. The bombs were put in packages and were left outside of the victim’s homes. Austin Mayor Steve Adler said the city’s “collective fear and anxiety” was growing as the bomber carried the string of bombings.

There was feeling that there was not much that we could do. There was a collective helplessness

— Adler

Adler said Thursday at a City Council meeting (CNN.com). “Our community was beginning to fray” he added (CNN.com). Austin police are asking the public to “remain vigilant and report anything suspicious (CNN.com).” Some have been breathing a sigh of relief since Conditt’s death, others are still shaken up.

The bomber was caught on a security camera walking into a FedEx store in south Austin with two packages. He went to the store on Sunday and parked in the view of a surveillance camera that captured his license plate, and was later identified as Mark Anthony Conditt. He was also wearing a disguise to hide his identity. Conditt later made a 25-minute video confession on his cell phone that provided the details of the bombs that he used. He also described the process of making the seven bombs including the one that killed him.
