With the first half of the 2017-2018 volleyball season coming to an end, the Crusader volleyball team has achieved something that it hasn’t been accustomed to in the last few seasons – a victory. After the first six games of ILH play the Crusaders stand at 3-3, ranking 4th in ILH Division II.

Unfortunately for the Crusaders, the team had to spend all of the preseason and opening night without their starting outside hitter Brian Cox (#1) who was sidelined with a spleen injury. Cox was a full time starter last year as a freshman and was among the kill leaders on the team. Additionally, the Crusaders played its first four games (2-2) without starting middle Isaiah Filisi, who was sidelined for personal reasons. Since the return of these two starters, the Crusaders are 1-1 and look to build more chemistry as they play more games together. Two of the three losses for these Crusaders have been by five points or less. Both games were taken to the third set and could have gone either way but unfortunately steered in the wrong direction for the Crusaders, as the scores were 20-25 (Saint Francis (5-1)), and 28-30 (UH Lab. (4-2)).

Currently, the Crusaders are 3-3 and have a chance to play against all the teams one more time. With all the starters back together in the lineup, the Crusaders now look to compete for an ILH Championship in the upcoming months.
