Inspiring the next generation, Saint Louis School’s new Boy Scout program, Pack 3003, is shaping future leaders with adventure, values, and community spirit. The program meets weekly on the Saint Louis campus, quickly becoming a cornerstone for students and their families.
Breaking tradition, Saint Louis School’s Pack 3003 welcomes everyone, just like its JROTC program, fostering leadership and community spirit beyond boundaries. The SLS Scouts program includes the Cub Scouts and Daisy program for younger children and the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts programs for older children, ensuring opportunities for all ages to grow and thrive.
Jaxson Dardeen, one of the scouts, eagerly describes his experience earning the Religious Emblem badge. “It took me time to reach it, and I had a lot of help from my mom,” says Dardeen, adding, “It made me realize about my faith.” This sentiment captures the program’s dual focus on personal growth and family involvement.
The program’s Cubmaster, the mother of one of the scouts, explained how Boy Scouts enrich family time. “Every evening, we have prayer sessions together, and we focus on one of the 12 Scout Laws,” shares Mrs. Dardeen. “It’s nice to see… how he’s transformed faithfully… I mean, a scout is reverend, he’s brave, he’s, you know, very, very clean and whatnot, so to see that and practice that every night, I think that kind of helps build our family time together.”
Activities within the program range from STEM projects led by guest instructors to community service, such as volunteering with Meals on Wheels and visiting the Humane Society. Scouts also learn essential life skills, including CPR and emergency preparedness.
With opportunities for boys and girls alike, the program not only promotes personal development, but also strengthens the school’s community. Parents and students are encouraged to join and experience the lasting benefits Scouting offers.
