Iran fires ballistic missiles at militants from Syria

The Middle East is in shambles after Iran fires six ballistic missiles at Syrian militants and U.S. troops fighting on behalf of the Coalition. The Iranian forces blame militants for a recent attack on a military parade in Ahvaz that claimed the lives of 24 and injured more than 60. This is the second missile attack by Iran in a single month and the Coalition is still trying to assess why the missiles were launched so close to forces who aid in the fight against ISIS. Iranian news stations report the missiles killed and wounded militants in Syria. The Arab separatists were initially blamed by Iran for the parade attack and actually claimed the attack, even going as far as providing details about one the attackers, but the attackers were later identified as members of ISIS.

The missiles were launched from western Iran, they then flew over Iraq and landed near the city of Boukamal in southeastern Syria. Rami Abdurrahman, head of the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, told the Press that the Iranian missiles hit the ISIS-held town of Hajin, north of Boukamal, this may have been the reason of the vicinity of the missile launch and accidental targeting. Officials believe these forces may have been targeted because of the recent renewal of U.S. sanctions on the Iranian Oil industry. Tensions between the U.S. and Iran continue to raise after President Trump pulled out of Iran’s nuclear deal with the world powers.  The United Nations says Iran will still honor the terms of the accord, in which it limited its enrichment of uranium in exchange for the lifting of economic sanctions. But the Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem says Iran’s missile strikes against militant positions in the country’s eastern province is in retaliation for the recent terror attack in the southwestern city of Ahvaz was part of legitimate cooperation between Damascus and Tehran in the fight against terrorism.
