The Windward Mall annual pumpkin carving festival is an event where students and families come to carve pumpkins and enjoy other October and Halloween activities.

The Carving Festival was held at Windward mall from 10am to 6pm. Students from different schools competed against each other to carve a pumpkin that followed a theme. This years theme was Malama Honua. High school teams will have two hours to carve their pumpkins and create a display with the theme Mālama Honua (care for our Island Earth).

Teams from Aiea, Damien, Kailua, Kamehameha, Radford, Roosevelt, Pacific Buddhist Academy High Schools, and Saint Louis competed against each other in the contest. The Saint Louis team was supervised by art and ceramics teacher Mike Amerino. Saint Louis won first place in the carving contest. The team members worked hard to create two pieces mixing backdrops created in the art class. The pumpkin carving festival supports the school through donations and sponsors. Winning the contest was a great achievement for not only the art department but also the school. Saint louis takes pride in competing in this contest the art team is excited to continue to compete in this contest for years to come.
